Joel Black - Hazy Pockets, Producer, Composer DJ, Tegel Boys, Studio 1111

Joel Isaac Black was born in Texas to blues musician father, harmonica and swamp guitar were his lullabies. In some form, he continues to chase that certain guttural, soulful sound he was introduced to at an early age. Moving out West to L.A, working first as a rock ’n’ roll drummer and later a studio owner and producer, Joel also spent the better part of a decade sorting vinyl records at the world's largest independent record store (Amoeba Records) and has effectively absorbed a living archive of music, film, pop-culture, and Hollywood know how. Arriving in Berlin, re-baptised at the discotheque, he is still seeking those uplifting, funky moments to this day, albeit in maximal dance floor form as a DJ. The last years have found Joel as resident DJ at the infamous Kater Blau club in Berlin, a founding participant at the Garbicz Festival, and as a sought after artist and curator plying his trade as programmer, event organiser, and music consultant for hotels, clubs, festivals, and cultural events as far as Tbilisi, Georgia, Zermatt, Switzerland, and Brooklyn, New York.
